'Combining up to date practice
with solid values'

In 2011 Ofsted graded the Nursery :-

'Good in all areas and outstanding
at working with parents'

Woodthorpe Day Nursery Ltd was opened in 1993 by the Proprietors, Mr and Mrs Turner. Kerry Turner took over as Manager in January 2013, and after working closely with the previous manager for the last 6 years, is committed to seeing the nursery continue to develop and improve on the very high standards already achieved ! Kerry obtained her Early Years Professional status in 2011 to add to the Business degree she had previously.

The nursery is proud of the fact that our kitchen has just been awarded the highest possible 5 * rating, by the local council inspectorate !

Congratulations to Sue and all the staff involved.

Since opening in 1993 Woodthorpe Day Nursery Ltd has gained an excellent reputation for its high standards of staff, care and education. We are registered with Ofsted and are members of the National Day Nursery Association.

EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE
The EYFS is a framework which sets the standards for the care of children as well as learning and development. The framework provides the foundation for children to enable them to reach their full potential. We aim to provide a safe, secure and warm environment in which all children can access the EYFS.

‘Staff have good knowledge of the EYFS and how children develop through play’ (Ofsted 2011)

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage for all children from babies to pre-school. We provide learning opportunities which are differentiated for each age group through all areas of development. We facilitate adult led and child initiated learning opportunities which will stimulate and motivate as well as educate, young minds.

Individuality is paramount to childcare. Our aim is to bring an enjoyable and safe learning environment, within a flexible routine in a group setting whilst taking individual needs in to full consideration.

‘Good systems are in place to ensure that all children’s individual needs are routinely met.’ (Ofsted 2011)

We aim to create an environment where we recognise, acknowledge and celebrate children’s differences, and where children are encouraged to value and respect others. We promote equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice, and ensure that every child is included.

The nursery is open to, and welcomes all children and families. We aim to ensure that all who wish to work in our nursery have an equal chance to do so. Woodthorpe Day Nursery liase with parents and relevant agencies to support those children with additional or Special Needs.
